The Mayor of Ards, Councillor Angus Carson, has expressed his deep sadness after Saturday evening's accident:
"Losing a child is an experience no parent ever wants to endure and my heart goes out to the Ellesmere family as they try to cope with the loss of Gareth in such tragic circumstances" said Councillor Carson. "My thoughts and prayers, and those of the wider Ards' community, are with them now and in the difficult days which lie ahead".
