The Mayor of Ards, Councillor Angus Carson, has wholeheartedly condemned the wanton attack of vandalism at Nendrum College in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Twenty windows were smashed at the school during the attack causing up to £3,000 worth of damage.
The repairs will have to be funded out of the College’s budget impacting directly on the funds available for teaching resources for local children.
The Mayor praised the hard work of caretaking staff who cleaned up the damage on Sunday to enable children to return to school as normal on Monday morning. He was pleased to note that, despite the incident, there had been no disruption to their education.
“An attack on a school is an attack on the heart of the community and should be condemned by all right thinking people” said Councillor Carson, “I would urge anyone with information to contact the local police so that those responsible can be apprehended”.
