The Norman Nevin Centenary Week, May 2009
Norman Nevin, who wrote what many consider to be the definitive history of Comber, was born on 3rd May 1909. Better known to many as Headmaster of the Primary School, Norman devoted many years of his life to researching his beloved town.
To mark his centenary, Comber Historical Society are paying tribute to Norman Nevin with a week of celebrations commencing on Saturday 2nd May with the launch of a photographic display in Comber Library. On the afternoon of Sunday 3rd, everyone is invited to take part in a guided historical walking tour of the town; and throughout the week, local schools will be involved with historical events and walks. The week will conclude with a “Norman Nevin Night” in the Comber Primary School on Monday 11th May.
The Historical Society would be grateful to anyone who can assist with these celebrations by providing them with photographs, audio or video tapes, memories or anything else associated with the life and work of Norman Nevin. Please contact Erskine Willis – 028 9187 2048.
