Police believe flammable material was pushed through the letterbox
A fire in County Down may have been started deliberately, police have said.
The blaze at the house in Lower Crescent in Comber was reported at about 0210 GMT.
Firefighters rescued a 52-year-old woman from a first-floor bedroom. She was treated in hospital for the effects of breathing smoke.
Detectives are investigating whether flammable material was pushed through the letter box and set alight. Police have appealed for information.
Firefighters stayed in phone contact with the woman while she was trapped, said District Commander Alastair Rooney from the Fire Service.
"They were able to keep her calm and more importantly, they were able to find out that she was in a particular bedroom on the first floor of the house," he said.
"They were able to find out how to get access to the bedroom which meant that as soon as our fire crews arrived at the house, they were able to deal with the fire in the hallway and carry out an immediate rescue of the lady."
